Easter 2012

Easter weekend is always special because it reminds us of the sacrifice Jesus made when he died on the cross for our sins. But even more the fact that he was resurrected. Having kids now we have tried to start our own Easter morning traditions to illustrate to them how Christ rose from the dead. There are a lot of ideas I have to start doing, one being reading the resurrection story from the bible with them Easter morning which we did not do this year. But we did make our resurrection rolls. Caleb put in his marshmallow (Jesus) into his crescent roll (his tomb) and when they cooked and we took them out the marshmallow was gone (the resurrection). I don't know if he gets it but its something I'd like to do every Easter. We've done it the last two.
Easter is also another day we all get dressed up for church and take family pictures. We got a couple cute ones. Now that Caleb's hair is short it looks so shaggy in these pictures :)

Carter mans first Easter. Isn't he so handsome!
Another fun part of Easter really has nothing to do with Christ but its just part of the fun. Is the Easter bunny! OK so our Easter bunny usually goes crazy because he brings us all the fun things we will need for outside time this summer. And with a beach trip planned he knew we needed some beach towels and sand toys. We were woken up by a very excited boy around 1:00 in the morning with a half eaten chocolate bunny!!
