The reason I can't go back to work

As all my friends are getting their classrooms ready, I am starting to miss the excitement a new school year brings. I loved teaching and one day will get back into it, whether its full time or just being an over active room mother, realistically it'll probably be the second. As soon as I start to think about working, I look at this sweet little one and know that I could never leave him. I know we are very blessed for me to be able to stay home with my little man! He keeps life very interesting. Here are some funny things Caleb did today.
Now that he's into EVERYTHING it makes for some fun photo opts! Caleb discovered the mirror. We have it just chilling on the floor because we really haven't found the right place for it yet.

Giving that sweet baby some kisses!! Just like his Daddy, he loves his reflection.

I think its time to finally lower his bed. Now when we go to get him out of his crib, we are greeted by two big blue eyes and a big grin!

We lowered the bed, so now he just stands all the way up to see over :)
Oh so dramatic!! Get me outta this cage!!
Oh so sleepy! All that playing just wears me out!!

Momma was being silly! I'm too big for my baby bed!So my cheap tourist shirts aren't doing so well with all my crawling! Maybe that's why they were 2 for $5.

Caleb's "talking"

So anyone who's seen Caleb since he discovered his voice, pretty much as soon as he was born, knows he loves to "talk" and laugh, and squeal. So here's a little peak of his babbling. He loves to taunt Mommy. I'll say "Momma" and he'll repeat "Da Da". Its really funny. He just entertains himself forever just babbling to himself. If I'm not in there with him, I just listen for the "dadadada" when I don't hear it anymore, I know he's into something!!

Crawling!!!

So we are off and crawling now. Caleb's been working on it for a while now but I would say today is the first official day. Since I can't keep him contained to the blanket any longer. He crawls over to the doggy gate to see the puppies.
The cabinet with the TV stuff is still his favorite. Now I have an excuse to nag Tyler about getting all the TV stuff fixed, as in no more cords hanging around. We have to put a glass door in so we can close it off but still use the remotes.
Life will be a little more interesting with a mobile baby now! Tyler and I left Caleb on the blanket to go change for a run and when we came back, at first glance, there was no Caleb to be seen. He had wandered over under the end table heading to try to find us!

Here are some videos, as demanded by the MiMi and Nanner!

Myrtle Beach

Last week Caleb and I flew out to Myrtle Beach to meet MiMi, K-Naye, and Nanner. The Trout family was there also, so we shared many "remember when" stories. MiMi and Christine Trout have been best friends (for 20 years :) not really but that's what they said over and over to the waitress the first night). So it was fun to get back together with them.
The tide was far back so that we had a large beach area. Which was perfect for Caleb because he could sit in the sand and have the waves wash up just enough to run over his toes. He loved it! He'd start grunting at the waves to come back when they went back out.

Caleb had sand all over his face and didn't mind it at all, until he put a whole fistful in his mouth. Then he was ready to go back to the ocean to wash it off and start again.

We had to have a coffee milk for Ole' times sake. Its crazy that we are all old enough, well some of us, to have "official coffee milks".

Caleb and I surprised Ms. Christine. She didn't know we were coming too until we hopped out of the car at dinner.

Of course we turn every opportunity into a Caleb photo shoot.

Oh the Snuggie! We laughed so hard that night my stomach was sore for days. MiMi and Christine together with some wine, a night full of interesting things!
We all went and ate at the restaurant where Dianna works. We tried not to give her too hard of a time but with our group we're always difficult, even with Dianna as our waitress.

All that fun just wears baby Caleb out! Crap, it work me out!!
Mom's sunggie dance!

Daddy's curls

Daddy's curls are starting to make their appearance. Its not as curly as when Tyler was a baby but there are a couple in there. Especially over his ears where his hair is longer. And when Caleb gets sweaty or hot, there's even more.

Bath Time!

Caleb loves his bath time. He splashes all around and would probably stay in there all day if we'd let him.

Caleb is 7 months old today!

Mommy's little man is 7 months old today! Man what an adventure these 7 months have been! He's been a trooper as we've taken him all across the country and back again. He's eating all kinds of stuff now and loves all of it. He has just started making faces when he tastes something new for the first time. I was cracking up when I gave him sweet potatoes yesterday and the face he made was priceless. He loves them after a couple bites but the bananas and sweet potatoes gave the best faces. Caleb is getting so stinking big! He's been sitting up for a little while and is working on crawling now. He even gets to take a bath like a big boy now. No more laying down to bathe. In fact after we let him sit up and play, when we laid him back to wash his hair he got a little attitude. We keep thinking that first tooth is going to pop out any day but we haven't seen it yet. Caleb sure gnaws on everything so I know his gums are sore. He loves to give hugs and kisses. He will grab my head/ hair on both sides of my face and pull my face forward to give me a big wet slobbery kiss! Most of the time he is just attacking my face and sucking on my chin. It is so funny! Caleb loves to "talk", laugh and smile. When he's playing he's just a "talking" Da Da Da- Bla Bla Bla. Sometimes I think he's solving the problems of the world if only we could understand him.

Caleb was playing here and I heard him whimpering. I looked down and he had scooted over to the TV tray and had his arm stuck.

Who needs toys when you can just play with the basket the toys are in. This basket had him entertained for at least 30 minutes. Then I caught him playing peek-a-boo with it!

Oh how we are already getting into things!!!

Now that Tyler's back working Caleb and I are getting settled in here in Memphis and are in somewhat of a routine. Caleb's already met tons of new friends and will love playing with them once he gets bigger! Emery lives behind us. She is 4 weeks old today and Caleb looks so big next to her! I forget he was ever that little!. The Kimball boys (Everett, Lincoln, Severin and Guy) are 2 1/2. Caleb loves playing with them. He just watches with big eyes and a big grin, just wishing he could hop up and run around with them. And he will soon enough. So we are some what settling down, for now at least, until the next adventure which is coming up soon.
