Nap time with Caleb

Caleb loves playing with the camera from his monitor. I always crack up when I check on him and I see his sweet little face right in the camera. This time when he pulled it down it came in his crib instead of falling behind it, like it usually does. So I had a good laugh watching him playing/eating the camera.
Nap #2 today: After I heard some funny noises coming through the monitor, I decided I needed to go check out what little man was doing in his crib. Notice the camera tied down to the top of his crib :) Here's what I saw:
At the end of this next video you can see what has become the best milestone thus far: getting down by himself!! For the last week or two we have had to put Caleb to bed COMPLETELY asleep because he would climb up and not be able to get down. Which would start either an up and down battle between him and I or a very long cry it out before either way, I finally give up and go rock him to sleep. Now I can put him in his bed when he starts rubbing his eyes or fussing and he'll play or fuss for a little bit and then lay down and go to sleep (most of the time). He'll stand, get down and play, stand again and finally just give in the sleep. This also helps while he's playing in the living room. No more screaming for help to get down from the doggy gate, chair, couch, table, and everything else he manages to get up on.

Beautiful Memphis days

The weather in Memphis has been amazing, seeing that its August and in the 70s-80s. We were playing around in the backyard so I decided to make it my own personal Caleb photo shoot. Surprising I know. I figured I didn't have enough pictures of our little man.
I've given up hope that little man looks like me!! I used to think I had a little bit in there but after seeing this picture, there's no chance! I guess I can't complain since he is so cute! (and I'm not biased even the slightest bit!! :) ) That blonde hair and big blue eyes!! Gotta love him!
The next day we loaded up after church and went to Shelby Farms to explore. Leah came with us and the Kimball boys met us there to ride their bikes. We had never been out there before and now I'm hooked. There are so many different trails to stroll/ run/ walk on.
Caleb testing out his new big boy chair that Todd and Jennifer passed down to us. He was so ready to get out of that carrier. His legs and head were hanging off the ends. Now he can sit up and not always be leaning back.
The boys saw the hill and immediately went straight down. Thank goodness for the thick patch of grass before the water. We had a small crash but no kiddos went swimming!
We had a great time and man was Everett fast!! He probably would have ridden around the whole pond if we would have let him! We only ended up carrying two bikes on the way back to the car. All in all it was a great outing, we can't wait for the next one!

Friday night on Beale Street

We headed to downtown Memphis for dinner and a Redbirds game but we ended up skipping the game and strolling down Beale street. Everyone thinks Elvis is dead but we saw him preforming last night on Beale Street.
Caleb seemed to be quite bored by it all. Either that or he's saying not another picture Mom!! All I can say is get used to it big boy!! :)

Our roses

I just had to post these pictures of our backyard. With all the rain we've been getting, a lot of our roses have been blooming again.

So big

Caleb has discovered that a whole new world exists up off the floor. There's tons of new things he can get into now that he pulls up. The only problem is, once he pulls up he can't get back down. So he lets out one of his new screams to get help getting down. We always knew Caleb was loud but these screams take it to a whole new level.
Even Caleb recognizes how stinkin' cute he is. He just can't resist playing with that handsome baby in the mirror.

So who doesn't have a picture raiding the fridge or pantry. Mom this reminds me of the one of me in the pantry you have when I was around this same age. OK my baby's a piggie. He's a good eater, as you can probably tell by his big leggies! I just love em, so squishy! :)
Caleb's new thing now is twirling his hair. I just love it when I'm rocking him, he's almost asleep and he starts twirling his hair. Its so sweet! From what I hear he gets it from his Uncle Todd.
This seems to be one of Caleb's favorite games now. Stand at the doggy gate and yell at the pups. They'll stand there and look at him for a minute and then head outside. Meanwhile, Caleb continues to stand and yell. Then when he's ready to get down he screams his wonderful new scream to get someone to help him down. We are working on him learning to get himself down. He's gotten better at it today, a little.

Is this not the most pitiful thing you've ever seen!! He was out about 1 second after this was taken!
