Once a year we all get together to celebrate the end of another year of residency and the beginning of a new chapter for the chiefs who are finishing and moving on. Every year I'm slightly jealous of the families who are finally at the end of their residency road and moving on to life after residency. This year was the first time I was actually a little glad it wasn't us. I guess because we are halfway through and the end is not quite in site but getting closer. I love where we are right now in this stage of our lives. One day, soon enough, we will be closing this chapter and moving on to the next but I can honestly say I'm not ready for that just yet. Most likely that next chapter will mean we are moving somewhere new and starting all over again. We LOVE our neighborhood now and all the friends we have in Memphis and the thought of leaving makes me sad. Our kids are growing up WAY to fast and for the first time in my life I am soaking in the now and not looking to the next step. Part of it is because I don't know where or what the next step will entail so it kind of forces me to live in the now. Yes Tyler's schedule can get old and tiresome, but even that gets better every year. Three years from now (actually less than that now) this will be us and I'm sure when that day gets here it will be bittersweet and we will be ready for all that next chapter has in store. But for now, we are loving life and enjoying the now.

Congrats to the Olivers and VanPoppel's. Good luck with your fellowships and all that post residency life has in store.

| I wish my eyes weren't blinded by the flash but oh well. These nights are also a night for us to celebrate another year completed. We've earned it too! |
You are so right...soak it up! As nice as it is to have Jonathan finished with school, this new season has its own set of challenges and changes. Not to mention the fact that we totally miss Memphis! Go get a Gibson's donut for me, and strongly encourage Tyler to look at practicing in Oklahoma! ;)
