Ever since we knew we were moving for Tyler's residency, he's said we would have a crawfish boil every spring for the residents and friends. My dad got him his crawfish pot for his med school graduation and Tyler was ready to use it! We didn't think we were going to get to do it this year because the prices were so high but as soon as Tyler heard they had gone down he was all ready to introduce our friends to one of Louisiana's favorites. Pops was the king of the party because he was nice enough to bring the crawfish up and help Tyler boil them! The VanPoppel's opened up their house (and pool) for the party. We had a big turn out and everyone had a great time! I think this may become a tradition, at least for the next 5 years!
I had a hard time finding a crawfish outfit last minute so we settled with a crab! Most people up here probably wouldn't have known the difference! :)

The pool was a huge hit! The kids were all entertained which means the parents had a good time too.
Caleb checking out what Pop's was eating. He tried them again but wasn't too impressed. I was really surprised at the kids that were eating them. A couple of them couldn't get enough, after we convinced them to try it!

An intense volleyball game broke out later into the party. A couple kids were hit in the head, Tyler took a blow to his nose but they rallied on. Caleb stood on the side and joined in the cheering anytime something big happened. He even fetched the ball for them when it was hit out of the pool. By the end of the game we were glad there were no major injuries and no one drowned :)
All in all it was a great party and I look forward to doing it again next year! Hopefully we will have more get togethers before then.
