crazy night

Caleb and the dogs had a conspiracy to keep me from sleeping last night. At one point I just couldn't quit laughing because I felt like I was in a bad You Tube video. At 12:30 Caleb wakes up crying. Normally he is a great sleeper. We really have never had problems with him getting up in the middle of the night. This week he's done it 3 times. He's got a bunch of teeth making their way in. We thought we were back to normal because we had 3 nights in a row of uninterrupted sleep. So I try to let him settle himself back down, that doesn't work. I go in and rock him and put him back in his bed and let him just cry it out. So after about 45 total he falls back asleep. As I am just about to drift off I hear Gracie whining in the living room because, I thought, of the storm. Not wanting her to wake Caleb up again, I go in and lock her in the playroom. As I am looking for Tiger to put in there with her, I realize she is whining because Tiger had crawled over the fence and was in Caleb's room. I try to get him out from under Caleb's bed and can't so I wake up Tyler to help. As Tyler is on his hands and knees getting Tiger out from under Caleb's bed, who is finally back asleep, I see Gracie run down the hallway and crawl under the guest bedroom bed. Now I go and lock Tiger back in the playroom using both baby gates on top of each other so he can't climb over the gate and Tyler is fishing Gracie out from the guest bedroom bed. How did Gracie get out of the playroom? Did she climb over like Tiger? Now Gracie can't climb, she jumps. So she jumped onto the window ledge of the kitchen and escaped through the window. So now I've got a climbing dog, and a jumping dog both afraid of the storm and a baby who just finally went back to sleep! Tyler fishes Gracie out and I put her back in the playroom and find our last baby gate to stretch out as far as it goes and block the window. I walk back to our room, now wide awake but feeling accomplished because there's no way she can get out now. She can't climb the two baby gates blocking the door and if she jumps onto the window shes not the climber so she won't be able to climb the gate. Now lying in bed wide awake I'm laughing about how bizarre these two dogs are and trying to wind back down to go to sleep. Then scratch scratch scratch at the door!! You've got to be kidding me! Its Gracie! Once again I put her back in her room and mess with the baby gate, knowing if I had one more I could double it like the doorway but who knew you needed 4 baby gates to keep 2 scared dogs in one room! I gave up and went back to bed feeling defeated and just hoping it was a fluke she wouldn't be able to figure it out again, she's not as smart as Tiger. I laid in bed now really wide awake retelling the story in my head and about 10 minutes went by. I'm thinking ok I've got them now! Then scratch scratch scratch! Needless to say Gracie got in bed with us and now I can finally get back to sleep! Kennedy decided she wanted in on the fun and starts dancing a wonderful jazz routine! :) I couldn't help but laugh and think 3 hours of sleep lost but oh what the adventure!!
Now the mystery is. Was Tiger already in Caleb's room and that's what woke him up or he go in there after Caleb had gone back asleep when I first heard Gracie whining? Who knows!!!
